Los Villares

A visitor centre, recreation area and signposted trail makes this peri-urban park one of the most interesting in the province of Córdoba. These installations aim to promote its use for recreation, one of the main objectives of this type of protected areas.

It is in the Sierra Morena Mountains and the landscape comprises dense woods of pine and holm oak with typical Mediterranean scrub. Its recreation area is popular with Córdoba residents who prepare their mass picnics here on the feast of San Rafael. It is also a characteristic location to see the San Lorenzo star shower, from its large car park esplanade. This area is, therefore, well known by the local population who come to walk on the trail, exploring its surroundings with respect for the environment.

The visitor centre has information on the landscapes of other protected areas in the province. There is also information on the different species of trees to be found in these mountain areas. In summer you can have dinner in the cool of its restaurant and kiosk-bar, while the children play in the games area.
