Francisco Antonio Enrique Jiménez Fernández was born in Cádiz in 1848 and died in 1906. This gypsy singer took on his fathers nick name, a slaughterhouseman who had always worked in the slaughterhouse in Cadiz. He was a strange character who hardly left his native city, despite being a famous artist. It is said that he professed being a great church goer, where perhaps he heard Gregorian chants which inspired his creation of his "malagueña". He was also, insofar as "soleá" style, the father of the styles from Cádiz along with Paquirri el Guanté and excelled in his performance of "alegrías". He is also attributed the creation of the "saetas por seguiriyas". He is one of the most important singers in history and the best known of those from Cádiz. He didn´t leave any recordings.
