Museo de Costumbres y Artes Populares Juan Fernández Cruz
The Museum of Arts and Customs “Juan Fernández Cruz” is in the so-called Casa Grande, a unique building of popular zuhereña architecture, a four-storey house with two courtyards. It recreates over 28 museum areas, the socio-economic life of Zuheros and its district, since the end of the 19th century to the middle of the century. There are over 3,000 items on display, in four large thematic sections:
Tools used in farming and cattle raising: saddles, grazing and manufacture of artisanal cheese, weights and measurements, loading and transport, farming, land plots,…
Craft workshops of traditional trades: cobbler, saddler, weavers, sewing and embroidery, carpentry, baker, coal miner-feller, butchery,…
Typical areas of a country house: bedrooms, kitchen, lounge, stables,…
Independent professions: chemist from the 19th century, doctor's clinic and office-press.
Furthermore, different areas of the museum exhibit a series of collections, such as models and agricultural miniatures created by the founder, keys, locks and bolts or tobacco.
Next to the permanent exhibition are a series of craft workshops and recovery of traditions which complement the museums with a series of participatory activities, inside and outside the Museum's facilities, with supporting educational and audiovisual material.
