Villaverde del Río
Small village belonging to the county of the Vega and located on the right bank of the river, at the feet of the mountain range. It thus has a varied scenery, ranging from mountainous areas to fertile, cultivated fields along the river and green vegetable patches.
History
The first human settlements date back to the end of the Bronze Age.
The Roman remains discovered in the AREA have led some authors to conclude that they belong to the city of Canama.
The Christian reconquest was led by Ferdinand III. The village would later be ceded to the Archbishop of Seville until the Pope handed it over to Philip II as a contribution for the cost of the battle of Lepanto.
Philip II sold it later to Juan Antonio Corzo and in 1577 it became part of the condado de Cantillana.
