Museo del Pastor
The El Pasto Museum is a cultural institution created by the Town Council of Villaralto, Cordoba. To protect, preserve and disseminate knowledge about the ethnological heritage relating to the pastoral life of the Comarca de los Pedroches and, more specifically, the town of Villaralto.
It is located in house number 17, Calle Buensuceso — a house dating from the mid-19th century, presiding over a secluded corner just a few metres from the parish church of San Pedro, the nerve centre of the town.
It recreates and reveals the modus vivendi of the shepherds of Villaralto, an activity that has been one of the basic pillars of this town's economy since its origins in the early 15th century and, at the same time, recovers a rich ethnological heritage, both tangible and intangible, that is slowly disappearing.
