Villaralto
A small village located in the Los Pedroches region, in the north of the province, in a landscape of crop fields and holm oak pastures devoted to extensive cattle farming.
Villaralto itself, small and secluded, is built concentrically around its church, and its narrow streets are lined with family houses built from granite and limestone.
History
The location of a small settlement or villar in a high (alto) spot in the late 15th/early 16th century was the origin of this village"s name.Villaralto appeared in the late Middle Ages on the site of Torremilano vineyards and for most of the modern era it has been dependent upon its mother village, enjoying, like Torremilano, royal jurisdiction.
In the 17th century (1620) it was sold to don Pedro Fernandez Carreras y Acuña. At the same time it was granted full village status.
