Museo Cerezo Moreno
The Cerezo Moreno Museum in Villargordo is located in the former town hall, presiding over the town's main square. It is a monographic museum dedicated to the local painter Francisco Cerezo Moreno, where over 150 of his works are on display.
Francisco Cerezo is a figurative painter and one of the best contemporary still-life painters. The exhibition also features the La Granja Glass Collection, the most important after that of the Museum of La Granja de San Ildefonso in Segovia itself.
A highly prolific painter, at the end of his life he owned many of his own works, when he offered his entire collection to the town of Villargordo with the condition that a permanent exhibition of the same be mounted.
The museum has five rooms, two on the ground floor and three on the first. One of the rooms is dedicated to other artists of Jaen, displaying works from various generations of artists, all linked to the owner of the museum. The other rooms are dedicated to landscapes, portraits, still lifes, and Segura de la Sierra, the village of Jaén where Francisco Cerezo studied and created a large part of his work, mainly landscapes of mountains and miniature panels that recall the painting of early flamenco artists.
The display cases of the rooms collect an important collection of glass pieces from Granja de San Ildefonso, likewise the property of the artist, of great importance, both for the quantity and quality of its pieces.
