Vilches
This little village is situated to the north of the province, at the foot of the Sierra Morena mountains, next to the Guadalén Reservoir. Its landscape offers mountains, farms, oak groves and pine forests alongside vast olive groves and farming lands. As monuments of interest, we must point out the Parish Church of San Miguel and the Castle.
History
Some remains have been found from the Roman period.The Parish Church preserves several objects from the Battle of las Navas de Tolosa.
In 1627, under the reign of Felipe IV, it was given the title of Village.
General Riego and his last supporters were captured in its municipal district.
