Cortijo del Moralejo
This is one of the best places in the Starlight Reserve of the Sierra Sur in Jaén. Note: a 4x4 vehicle is needed to access this point, but it is well worthwhile because it reaches the bottom of a deep valley surrounded by hills and mountains which conceal what little light pollution remains. The sky is amazingly clear and dark.
To get there, follow signs for the Monumento Natural del Quejigo del Amo from Valdepeñas de Jaén, after about 1.5 km a track goes down to the right, continue for a little over 2 km to reach an old farmhouse in ruins in a large esplanade.
The horizon here is wide, although it is true that the mountains cut off a little of the sky dome. This is a superb place for the more demanding amateurs.
The viewing point is over 1,100 metres high and with the valley bottom have outstanding conditions for observation and darkness.
