Valdelarco
Village situated in the middle of the Sierra de Aracena y los Picos de Aroche Natural Park, one of the most important protected spaces of the Community, which occupies the whole of the north of the province with its meadows and small rises in the ground, covered predominantly in holm oak woods, cork oaks, chestnut trees and scrub through which numerous streams flow forming an extraordinarily beautiful and attractive landscape which is ideal for livestock, especially pigs which find the conditions here ideal.
The village itself, which is small, quiet and peaceful, is catalogued as Property of Cultural Interest, as is the Divine Saviour Church.
History
There are ruins of a small necropolis near the village, dating from the sixth century a. C., clear signal of human settlements in this area of the Sierra de Aracena, although its history starts with the reconquest of the area by Christian troops.
A group of men and women of the north, mainly from the Kingdom of León, were established in these lands in the thirteenth century.
On 25 April 1773 it became independent of the jurisdiction of Aracena by Royal Privilege granted by Carlos III.
