Álvaro de Torres is a hotel with 8 rooms and located right in the town centre, in a tranquil, peaceful square in the World Heritage city of Úbeda, in the province of Jaén.
It is a Renaissance stately home from the end of the 16th century that had a number of occupants and uses before it was refurbished, these include a primary school, a post office, a tenement house and a school of Spanish language and culture for foreigners.
The construction features a simple façade, corridors protected by a patio of columns and a decorative staircase crowned by a well-preserved dome that is evidence of the ancestry of the original owners. The arcades at the entrance and exit to the staircase are another symbol of the noble and distinguished origin. Certain symbols are a reminder of the time of the Inquisition.
