Playa El Bajondillo
El Bajondillo beach is located in the province of Malaga in the town of Torremolinos, in the heart of the municipality. It is a broad, fine, sandy, urban beach with shady areas, an oasis of palm trees and numerous services and infrastructures (bars, beach bars, restaurants, WC, loungers for hire, showers, etc.) and it is very much appreciated by both local residents and tourists. There is a lifeguard service at Easter and in the summer season, from 1 June to 30 September.
It is the most central beach in Torremolinos, very well connected on foot, by road and by bus. From the town centre you can take a lift that is open all year. It is located in the Plaza del Panorama and takes you to the Plaza de los Tajillos, or you can take the Cuesta del Tajo downhill with some steps that starts next to the Torre del Pimentel and which is very popular with numerous shops selling craftwork and souvenirs. They both come out at the C/ Peligro that is directly on the Torremolinos Promenade and the Playa El Bajondillo.
Access by car from the centre is along C/ Las Mercedes and Ave del Lido and by bus taking local line L-2 Playamar and interurban M-123 Churriana-Plaza Mayor. They go through the centre of the municipality and there is a stop on the Torremolinos Promenade , next to the Bajondillo/Playamar Tourist Office.
The Promenade in this area has a numerous assortment of shops, with parking areas and a lane for bikes and skates. A few metres from the beach, in C/ del Bajondillo, you'll find the main entrance to the Casa de los Navajas, a neo-Mudejar style palace built in 1925. Visits are free and it is open every day of the year.
