Located about 3 kilometres from Torredonjimeno, upstream from the El Cubo and Las Mulas streams, the Molino del Cubo is an area full of charm and mystery, it is even said that there is a ghost. More than a flour mill, which is what it actually is, it looks like an impregnable fortress built by the Calatrava Order in the 15th century (1437). The truth is, this is what it was used for as it protected the roadways which came down through the Sierra de la Grana from the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada.
Upstream, from the Las Mulas waterfall, by means of a channel that is still in good condition today, the water that fell in torrents through the El Cubo water mill and set all the gears of the mill in motion: water wheel, axis, millstones, etc. to complete the milling process.
The Molino del Cubo has an extraordinary location in an area of high ecological and landscape value. The area surrounding the Molino del Cubo is ideal for hiking in a truly delightful environment. It is just a short distance to the "Vía Verde del Aceite" (Olive Oil Rail Trail), ideal for enjoying a really good walk whilst appreciating the natural and cultural heritage of Torredonjimeno.
