This is what it's like to sleep in a Cave House
Did you know that in Andalusia you can sleep in a cave? Then join us in this article and we'll show you what it's like to spend a day in a Cave.
Being able to sleep in a Cave House is one of things most original activities you can undertake in Andalusia. The aim of this article is to encourage you to enjoy the experience of spending a weekend in one of them and for this reason we have travelled the 60 kilometres from the city of Granada to what are known as Tío Tobas Cave Apartments.
All of us are used to living in "normal” houses with straight walls and corners and mainly rectangular spaces. But what if we change all this for anarchic spaces where everything is curved?
We replace classical straight, square ceilings with vaults which have no definite shape.
A traditional tiled bathroom for one which has curved walls.
And it's best to simply forget about heating and air conditioning… since inside these caves the temperature is constant year-round, about 18ºC to be more precise, so in winter we have the impression of being nice and warm and in summer we feel really cool.
Two-storey caves, with balconies that look out onto the outside, kitchen, wood-burning fireplace…
And if this is already not enough… to enjoy the experience of dining in a cave with some of the best cuisine in the Guadix area.
Together with some delicious lamb chops…
A salad from the vegetable garden…
A glass of wine and some organic cheese from the caves of the workshops Trópolis…
And to top it all, there's nothing like a dip in the pool surrounded by all the caves…
So now you know, come and have a well-deserved rest, enjoy the experience and find out what it's like to disconnect from the noise and stress of the city in one of them. You will return, of that there is no doubt!
