El Ancla
The Ancla Restaurant specialises in fresh fish from Tarifa.
Once a boat builder's workshop, in 1989 it was converted into a bar to serve fishermen on their way to work in the small hours. Since then, El Ancla (The Anchor) has been run by the same family.
In the 90's, when the local fishing industry was in decline, it became a restaurant specialising in fish and seafood from the Strait of Gibraltar.
This restaurant, of long tradition and history, is the best place for fresh seafood on the entire Bay of Cadiz. There is a display tank that lets you see the live seafood on offer, which you can enjoy with local wines to make your stay in the magical city of Tarifa a truly unforgettable experience.
They serve red tuna grilled, tartar or thinly sliced and marinated in oil and vinegar. They are also famous for their squid croquettes. As regards seafood, venus clams are very popular with the locals.
