Santa María Polo Club
Santa Maria Polo Club was the first polo field in Sotogrande, the legendary field of La Playa, built in 1965 by Enrique Zobel. Back in 1967, polo tournaments began to be held with a handful of friends, with a family-friendly atmosphere, on that legendary field.
In 1971, the famous Sotogrande Gold Cup was held for the first time and was won by Pedro Domecq de la Riva's team Casarejo Portales.
There are more than 30 tournaments on the club's annual calendar, and the most important ones are the Gold Cup, the Silver Cup, the Bronze Cup, Pedro Domecq de la Riva Memorial, Conde de Guaqui Memorial, José Ignacio Domecq Memorial, Santa María Open and the Enrique Zobel Founder Cup.
Santa María Polo Club has decisively promoted this sport from the outset, and today it is one of the most important clubs in Europe.
There are currently nine fields located in three places called Los Pinos (fields I, II, III, IV), Río Sotogrande (fields I, II) and Puente de Hierro (fields I, II, III, IV). The latter is where the stables are located.
Santa Maria Polo Club also has facilities for events in each area. It is equipped with both the infrastructure and the means to be able to offer a comprehensive service that adapts to all needs in a unique spot that is perfect for private and corporate events and celebrations.
