Sierra de Segura El Sequero
Located in the district of Siles, El Sequero is an old pine cone drier which has been fully refurbished respecting all the features and construction methods characteristic of the now defunct ICONA (Institute for the Preservation of Nature in the previous regime).
After its complete restoration, the centre has seven well-differentiated areas. The first floor houses the reception and information centre, the machinery for one of the four extraction and drying processes of the old pine cone dryer, the toilets and the audiovisual room. The semi-basement houses an exhibition on the natural and cultural history of the Sierra de Segura, with a large terrace which serves as a lookout point and relaxation area leading on to the Centre's main storage facility.
The Siles Mycology Information Point is located in this centre, with an exhibition on mushrooms, their ecological function, those most common in the Nature Reserve, as well as multimedia applications for visitors to be able to understand these organisms better.
Spring and summer: Tuesday to Sunday, 11am to 2pm and 6pm to 9pm. Autumn and winter: Saturday and to Sunday, 11am to 2pm and 5pm to 8pm.
