Children and Family area at the resort
The Family area in Sierra Nevada has some entertaining themed areas, especially designed to encourage beginners and promote the practice of winter sports with the family, where parents and children can share their first, unforgettable experiences in the snow.
The El Mar piste in the area of Borreguiles is a place for family fun, with giant decorative elements inspired by the Costa Tropical coast of Granada placed along the route. Palm trees, an enormous octopus, a blue whale, a yellow submarine and a large lighthouse guide you down while making the descent fun. Access from the Veleta II chairlift.
A little further down, next to the magic carpets for beginner skiers on the left side of the Dauro carpet, we find the El Bosque piste. Over the 200 metres of the descent, children will discover forest and mountain animals showing them the way to the igloo camp, where fun activities are organised.
The Alpine Garden, where the little ones learn to do their first turns in the snow when they can barely walk. The Chiki Club restaurant completes the family option at the ski area with special children's menus.
The third place for families and children is in the Sulayr Snowpark in Loma de Dilar: the Kidspark. Aimed at the little ones who, in the company of their parents, can start freestyle safely, helped by instructors. It has a special line for them with three platforms at ground level, to one side of the Loma de Dilar chairlift, parallel to the minipark.
The Minipark or Progression Park, for beginners in snowboard and freestyle, has facilities on both sides of the Loma de Dilar chairlift and, between them, an inflatable mattress for beginner riders to land against.
In addition to forfaits being free for children under 6 years of age and disabled children under 12, Sierra Nevada offers the Family Formula, with special discounts and rates for the whole family.
Another family area is in the Mirlo Blanco activity park, designed for enjoying the snow without having to wear skis. A unique rollercoaster, an ecological ice-skating rink, magic carpet, slides with inflatable parts and spirals, bike slalom, ski-biking, sit-skiing, bouncy castles, archery… all at an altitude of 2,100 metres.
Sierra Nevada decks itself out for traditional festivities. Everywhere is filled with magic, illusion, fantasy and fun. Imagine celebrating Christmas at the Resort, awaiting the arrival of Father Christmas or the Three Kings loaded with surprises; the colourfulCarnival festivities or the merry Feast of the Cross.
The mild summer (20ºC) and wide range of activities to do have established Sierra Nevada as a privileged destination for sports and family tourism in Andalusia. In summer, the high mountain turns into a setting for active leisure with suggestive and exciting options: Youth, sports and language immersion camps, children's attractions centre, walks along the Meltwater Flowpath Routes, over the high peaks, mountain bike trails, Bike Park, horse riding, Extreme Sports Competitions, Music Festival and mountain gastronomy.
