Valentin de Madariaga Foundation
The Valentin de Madariaga Foundation, which was given the former US pavilion of the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition by Seville City Council for 75 years, will be the permanent exhibition centre of the Private Collection of Contemporary Art MP.
This collection, made up of artworks by national and international artists, has a common thread and theme that gives it coherence and unity: Nature and the Environment. Created by a family business group, the collection is clearly influenced by Valentin de Madariaga y Oya as he was a great lover of nature. The collection is in keeping with the purposes of the Foundation, while at the same time it is an effective instrument for the knowledge, dissemination and promotion of contemporary art.
After the important renovation work, the doors of the Foundation are reopening to the Sevillian public, hoping to consolidate itself as one of the benchmarks for contemporary art in Seville and to become part of the city's cultural offering.
When you visit the MP Contemporary Art Collection, you will be able to enjoy an exhibition of works dating from the mid-20th century to the 21st century, with artists who artistically interpret nature using many different kinds of media such as painting, installation, video art or photography, raising awareness about how we use it and the need for its conservation.
Some of the artists we can find in the collection include Joseph Beuys, Cristina Iglesias, Robert Smithson, Lothar Baumgarten and Andy Warhol.
