Triana Ceramic Centre
The Triana Ceramic Centre is a municipal project to preserve memories of one of the last ceramic workshops in Seville, which was active until very recently.
The ancient Santa Ana Ceramic factory has been meticulously restored, retaining numerous historic elements of the factory whilst creating new spaces for a range of activities: visits to the original facilities, the permanent ceramics collection, temporary exhibitions, etc., in addition to craft workshops to keep the tradition of Triana pottery alive.
The Triana Ceramic Centre is on two floors.
The ground floor features several historical kilns (some dating from the 16th century), the water well, clay storage, the mills for the minerals, the "almágenas" containers for storing prepared pigments, the potter's wheel, the airing boards and the dryer for moulds, and the board where the painters decorated the great tile panels.
The top floor features various areas with different functions: tourist centre, meeting room, Triana neighbourhood information centre, and temporary and permanent exhibition spaces. The permanent exhibition features pieces belonging to the city from other local museums and pieces requested on loan from their owners.
