Palacio de Mañara
The Palace of Mañara is a palatial house in an essentially Renaissance style. The palace was the birthplace of the illustrious philanthropist Miguel de Mañara who was the promoter and benefactor of the Brotherhood and Hospital of La Caridad. It is located in the centre of what used to be the Moorish and old Jewish quarter of Seville. This included the area between the Alcázar fortress and the vicinity of the Carmona Gateway.
The façade of the Palace of Mañara dates back to 1540, it is flanked by two Tuscan columns, whose pedestals are decorated with reliefs bearing a coat of arms. The surviving pictorial decoration on the façade, discovered during the most recent restoration, has elements of a number of types: the pilasters are decorated with imitation ashlars, while the rest of the wall is decorated with brick.
It is currently the headquarters for the Department of Cultural Assets of the Regional Government of Andalusia.
