Palace of the Marquises of Algaba Mudjear Centre
At the Palace of the Marquises of Algaba - Mudjear Centre, visitors can discover one of the most important palatial homes of Seville. Situated in the heart of the Calle Feria area, its museum shows an interesting sample of Mudejar art. It also has a large collection of cultural items.
Refurbished between 1998 and 2002, the building comprises a large-scale Renaissance palace of great architectural value (15th century), with a striking Gothic Mudejar roof.
The Mudejar Centre in the Palace of the Marquises of Algaba is considered to be the most important museum run by the City Council. Guided tours focus on the idiosyncratic special concept of the "Mudejar" people and style, so important to Spain, a nexus for potters, foremen and master builders who continued the Moorish tradition.
A total of 111 items are on display, 20 from the municipal archaeological collection from the Seville Archaeological Museum. The Mudejar clay pots, seals and domestic utensils of great value stand out in particular. The Museum of Art and Popular Customs of Seville and the Fine Arts Museum of Seville have also assisted with the exhibition. The site also has the 20 items from the municipal collection which were in the Torre de Don Fadrique of Santa Clara.
