CEAR de Remo y Piragüismo

CEAR de Remo y Piragüismo La Cartuja (La Cartuja Rowing and Kayaking Club) is a sports facility pertaining to the Regional Government of Andalusia, built specially for the EXPO 92 and located on the banks of the Guadalquivir River. It is classed by the Consejo Superior de Deportes (National Sports Council) as a Centro Especializado de Alto Rendimiento de Remo y Piragüismo (CEAR - specialised high-level rowing and kayaking centre. It has been the venue for major national and international competitions in both sports such as the 2002 Kayaking World Championship and the Seville 2013 European Rowing Championship.

The CEAR hosts numerous teams from around the world who choose these facilities for their winter gatherings. It is widely regarded as the finest race course due to the excellent water and climate, as well as being located in Seville city centre.

Situated next to Puente del Alamillo bridge, it covers a surface area of 47,350 m² set aside for High-Performance Sports, specifically Rowing and Kayaking. The centre has a 7 km-long water course for rowing and kayaking races, two multi-sports tracks, paddle-tennis court, two gyms, ten hangars for rowing boats and kayaks, indoor rower, two meadows, repair shop, etc.

It also has an Athletes' Residence with more than 200 beds, designed to offer accommodation and board, in technical-sports conditions of the highest quality, for gatherings of Andalusian, Spanish and international federations, sports clubs and associations, as well as different for sporting events held in Seville.

The grounds are also home to the Centro Andaluz de Medicina del Deporte - CAMD (Andalusian Centre of Sport Medicine) that, throughout the year, serves Andalusian athletes as well as many teams and national squads from countries in the European Community who spend several weeks or months staying at the CEAR Athletes' Residence.
