Parroquia de San Marcos
The Parish Church of San Marcos is located at the end of the Calle San Luis, in a typical square 14th-century parish churches in the Gothic-Mudéjar style.
The main door has a pointed arch. On the keystone of the arch you will find a stone image representing God in the act of blessing and to the sides, a little further down, two figures representing the Archangel Gabriel and the Virgin Mary, both added in the 18th century to replace similar figures that already existed but were in a poor state of repair.
The distribution of the interior is typical for this era, with a central nave and two side naves, on the outside there is a slender tower that had once been a minaret in the 13th century mosque. The tower complex was restored in 1916 by Aníbal González who added the arches on the eastern façade and the lower single-pane window on the north face.
As for images, there should be a special mention for that of "San Marcos Evangelista" popularly but erroneously attributed to Juan de Mesa, a "reclining Christ" and a "Crucifixion", both from the 20th century.
The parish church is currently governed by the Sacred Heart congregation.
