The Monument to the Countess of Barcelona commemorates the extraordinarily close relationship between Doña María de las Mercedes de Borbón y Orleans and Seville and its traditions. It is in the Paseo de Cristóbal Colón, at the foot of the Real Maestranza de Caballería.
The monument consists of an equestrian statue of the Countess of Barcelona dressed as a horsewoman. The sculpture is made of bronze and stands on a circular marble pedestal with the following inscription: "Seville to HRH the Illustrious Countess of Barcelona, Lady of the Real Maestranza de Sevilla and holder of the medal of the city". It was inaugurated on 22 May 2008.
