Lonja de Artesanía El Postigo
Seville 's El Postigo crafts market is in an emblematic building in the centre of the city, next to the Arco del Postigo del Aceite gate, one of the most important in the city, and just a few metres from the Cathedral and the Giralda. It is home to the unique El Postigo crafts market.
The market offers a wide variety of crafts (20 craft workshops), ranging from jewellery to fashion accessories in leather, textile and silk, flowers, paper, wood, etc. It also offers decorations with traditional ceramics, mosaics, enamel, etchings, etc.
The market is arranged like an art gallery, so that visitors can relax as they stroll around, exploring the traditional craft work carried out in the Híspalis building. This combines with a series of contemporary creations to show the two sides of the market: traditional crafts and avant-garde design.
The market covers 900 m2 over three floors around a central courtyard. It also offers professional and continuous training, an information point, an exhibition space, an advice and services office for the sector and a space for shared selling. As well as being a cultural centre, it is a destination for visits by schools, groups and individuals.
No visit to this renovated building will leave you unmoved, as you will be walking through a place laden with history and, of course, art and crafts.
