Fuente de Sevilla fountain, also known as "Fuente de la Puerta de Jerez, "niños meones" or Diosa Hipalis", was created by sculptor Manuel Delgado Brackembury for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929.
The sculptural ensemble features three superimposed seats, formed by a group of children on six turtles playing with a giant lotus. These make up the base of the main sculpture: a lady on a throne symbolising the city of Seville. The turtles represent the slow and safe advance of the city, and the lady's melancholic look is a reflection of the awareness of Seville's historical past.
