Circular Prado Maguillo Trail – PR-A 199
TheCircular Prado Maguillo Trail – PR-A 199 runs through some of the landscapes that are the most representative of the high Segura mountains: expansive woods of Corsican and black pine (which provide good shade in summer), pastures, streams of clean water and small villages inhabited for all or part of year, such as Prado Maguillo, Cañada del Saucar, Prado Espinosilla, La Tobilla and Las Tres Aguas.
These corners of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park have their own special charm, with their houses displaying traditional architecture and their vegetable gardens, walnut and fruit trees.
The view over the valley of Los Anchos is very attractive, particularly in autumn, which is also a good time to collect the abundant milk-caps (or red pine) mushrooms that grow in the pine forest.
Apart from a section that uses a path, most of the route goes through narrow forest tracks.
Most of the route follows the edge of the Majano and Las Tres Aguas streams.
We will find no major uphill sections, and in the whole route is situated between altitudes of 1,200 and 1,400 m. Wild boar and deer are very common in the area.
