Basílica Menor de Nuestra Señora de la Caridad Coronada
The Basilica Menor of Nuestra Señora de la Caridad Coronada was built by order of the 7th Duke of Medina Sidonia, Alonso Pérez de Guzmán y Sotomayor, and his wife, Doña Ana de Silva y Mendoza, whose remains lie in the church. Work was completed between 1609 and 1612, adjoining what was then the San Pedro Hospital for Women, and it was the seat of the Brotherhood of Ntra. Señora de la Caridad Coronada, Patron Saint of the city of Sanlúcar de Barrameda.
The temple was designed by the master Alonso de Vandelvira, son of Andrés de Vandelvira, in the Mannerist style, and has two exterior façades and a bell tower. The monumental interior features two Baroque altar frontals in American silver and a main altarpiece in the Mannerist style as well as carvings from the 17th century Seville school representing the Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno and Nuestro Padre Jesús de la Humildad y Paciencia.
