Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri - Mar y Pinos
This Ballesteros design, his first in Spain, is firm proof that golf in Andalucía is spreading westwards. Lying along the Atlantic coastline near Chiclana and Jerez the course faces four kilometres of virgin beach adjacent to the spectacular Iberostar Royal Andalus Golf Hotel e Iberostar Andalucía Playa.
36 holes divided into two rounds of par 72 (round A: Sea – Pines, and round B: Centre). The first 27 holes were opened in 1990, and the remaining 9 were opened in April 2001.
In course A, the renowned Sea and Pines course at Novo Sancti Petri golf course, the first 9 holes offer wide fairways and the feeling of finally being on holiday. The views over the magnificent artificial water obstacles prepare you for the spectacular 6th hole, where the green is just above the beach, and from where there is a view of a sunset so spectacular that you almost forget to walk off. The 9th hole leads to the complicated pine round, first passing through the club house and the caddy master. Here, it is a case of overcoming obstacles in the form of pine trees – on the other hand, there are no water hazards. That round at Novo Sancti Petri par 72 is a classic of its design, with 4 par 3 holes, 10 par 4 holes, and 4 par 5 holes.
With a wide variety of sporting facilities including horseriding, football and tennis, the club Golf Novo Sancti Petri is very popular and has played host to the 1990 Codorniú Spanish Professional Championship won by Santiago Luna, and the 1993 Turespaña Masters Open de Andalucía won by Andrew Oldcorn.
