El Sotillo
Located on the outskirts of San José, in the Cabo de Gata-Níjar natural park, El Sotillo restaurant forms part of the facilities of the hotel of the same name, Hotel Cortijo El Sotillo.
The decoration maintains the tradition of the old farmhouses in the area, with warm colours and inviting interiors and the covered outdoor terraces get the natural light of Levante, revealing the unique countryside around it.
El Sotillo offers traditional, local cuisine made in the purest homemade fashion, which gives its dishes its own distinctive style that is unique in the region: soups and stews in winter, gazpacho and cold soups in summer. Already famous starters and star dishes on the menu: homemade croquettes, vegetable pie with Roquefort, stuffed piquillo peppers with cod brandade.
El Sotillo restaurant has local meat and fish but, especially, shoulder and leg of kid from their own farm with D.O. Celtiberian kid and natural park setting.
To finish up, its home-made desserts: Calatrava bread, "tocino de cielo" custard, rice pudding and cheesecake with compote of cranberries. All washed down with local wines.
