The Museo Naval de San Fernando (Cádiz) is an affiliate museum of the Museo Naval de Madrid (Naval Museum of Madrid), opened on 27 March 1992. Initially, it was set up in the Real Población de San Carlos in the Rey Carlos III building, which is the Escuela de Suboficiales de la Armada today, next to the Panteón de Marinos Ilustres.

On 24 April 2015, the Museo Naval de San Fernando once again opened its doors in the symbolic building of the old General Military Headquarters of the Navy (Zona Marítima del Estrecho), situated at Calle Real, 4. The main entrance to the museum is on Calle Escaño. The building has been refurbished to house all the centre and its important historic collection. The theme of the exhibition is the history of the Spanish navy near the Bay of Cadiz.
