History
The first known settlements date back to prehistoric times. The memorial stones scattered in the streets of the village reveal its remote origins. For some authors in Roman times it was the town known as Pesula.
During the Al-Andalus it was a farmstead of minor importance to which other settlements were incorporated.
In the 17th century it was bought and repopulated by Don Juan Federigi. In 1640 the king Juan II granted the village its own privileges and franchises.
