Itinerary for Bird-Watching in Salobreña
Salobreña is an exceptional place for bird watching.
The coast of Granada covers over 60 km, of which almost 40 correspond to beaches, coves, valleys and inlets and the rest are cliffs. Therefore, the landscape is characterised by an alternation of rocky areas with steep terrain that drops directly into the sea and cliffs and flat stretches that form the beaches.
These places offer numerous options for fauna, for both refuge and feeding at different times of year; so they serve as: nesting areas for birds and even birds of prey, resting places for large birds during their migration, and feeding areas for medium sized birds.
We should underline the presence of some islands such as Alborán and small islands such as the Chafarinas, which have a similar situation to the cliffs on our coast.
Maritime birds in the cliffs, nocturnal birds in the valleys, and even exotic birds from Africa or those that have escaped from private estates and ornithological parks can even be seen in different points of the Costa Tropical.
