Vía Verde of Guadalimar
From the gallery forest of the Guadalimar River to the olive plane of the Guadalquivir.
This Route runs almost entirely among olive groves, getting close in the northern half to the Guadalimar River, which offers some marvellous views. The route is dotted by numerous viaducts and tunnels which follow rugged gullies and high hills.
The Route begins near the railway station Linares-Baeza railway station in the Arquillos countryside (Linares), and ends in Horcajo (Begíjar) and is just over fifteen kilometres and is a very comfortable stretch for both pedestrians and for cyclists, due to the absence of steep terrain.
The Estación Linares-Baeza hamlet is a few kilometres southeast of the town of Linares and on the right bank of the Guadalimar River. This small village has always been known for its railway station, and is an area where dozens of trains run through or stop every day. Somehow, this town is linked to the romanticism of this unique means of transport and, since its foundation, thousands of travellers have passed through.
