Travelling through the countryside of Seville, a journey next to towns with of wealth of flavours.

The Vía Verde de los Alcores runs along the old mythical Tren de los Panaderos (Baker's Train), for 25 km, between Carmona and Alcalá de Guadaíra.

The Bakers Train opened on the 10th of January 1873. For almost 100 years it transported the bakers who, having collected the wheat, took it to be ground at the water mills on the outskirts of Alcalá de Guadaíra, and once baked, it was taken daily to Seville to be sold door to door. In 1965 it stopped going to Carmona and in 1975 it made its last trip from Seville to Alcalá de Guadaíra.

This train started its journey at the Carmona and passed nearby Viso del Alcor, Mairena del Alcor, Alcalá de Guadaíra and ended in Seville, passing through Torreblanca.

The route passed through hills criss-crossed with countless seasonal river channels, establishing a backbone in the region of Los Alcores and discovering the Seville countryside, after leaving the banks of the Guadaíra River a few kilometres behind.

From the San Francisco de Guadaíra station, the Vía Verde takes advantage of the facilities in the La Oromana and San Juan parks, continuing along the paths of Los Cercadillos and Los Molinos to Mairena, until reaching the highway junctions of the A-92. From here it follows the railway line, with long straight routes, towards Carmona.

From a historical point of view, this Vía Verde unveils thousand-year-old villages, which were situated at different points of the escarpment, from the Bronze Age where there are remains such as the Roman Necropolis of Carmona and the castles of Mairena del Alcor, Gandul and Alcalá de Guadaíra.

The ground here mainly consists of sand with a coating to avoid the loss of land. It is surrounded by trees along the different sections. Here you can appreciate the typical landscapes of the countryside, in addition to being able to see masses of stone pines and scrubland and palm formations.
