Vía Verde de la Campiña (II)
A route to Marchena, passing through the monumental Écija through the Seville countryside.
This route follows part of the old reconditioned Córdoba–Marchena railway lines, that stopped operating in the 70s, through fields of sunflowers and cereal crops among olive groves, which are especially beautiful in spring when they contrast their colours in the different fields that cover this flat landscape.
This route is the continuation of Vía Verde de la Campiña (i), in the province of Córdoba. The Vía Verde de la Campiña (II) crosses through part of the province ofSeville through the towns of Écija, La Luisiana and Marchena.
After the footbridge, the Route passes over a bridge and reaches the town of Écija, where it becomes a bike path. From here it continues straight along the Avenida de la Estación. On reaching Écija, one of the most important historical and artistic centres of Andalusia, we recommend taking a break and strolling around its historic centre, visiting some of its palaces, convents and churches.
The Route exits the town on the calle Boabdil street. Again, a countryside of crops and sunflowers accompany visitors along this section towards the Ecijana hamlet of Villanueva del Rey, where there is a rest area and the end of the route, which is currently conditioned and signposted.
From here the route continues towards the town of La Luisiana, where you can visit its Roman baths, and then carry along until the end of the route until you reach the monumental city of Marchena.
