Alcóntar is a small town of winding streets, formed by two main villages, Alcóntar and Hijate. The Alcóntar to Hijate Trail - PR-A 72 starts in the plaza of the Constitución de Alcóntar and heads towards the houses of the Blánquez in the high part where there are impressive views of "La Cerrá”.

The path crosses the Almanzora river and reaches the appendage of "Los Molineros”. It continues along characteristic, picturesque gorges and watercourses. It goes through the "Del Balaganar y de la Fuente de Los Calzones" gorge and the "de la Jordanilla and La Sacristana" watercourses which with their large dry riverbeds full of broom are the habitat of a great diversity of fauna that can be seen along the path.

The path enters the appendage of the Ramil highly renowned for the watchtower that is still conserved from the time of the Moors on this land. You can visit, stop to rest and enjoy the magnificent natural viewpoint on offer. From the Ramil, continue along the Green Way of Almanzora as far as the Pilancón to finally reach Hijate, the end of the trail where energies can be restored in its famous restaurants.
