Our Suggestion
From Tarifa to El Lentiscal. Total: 22.7 km: Approximately 26 minutes. We begin this motorbike route from the city of Tarifa in Cadiz. This beautiful town, nestled between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, has been an important enclave since the time of Abderrahman III. Even earlier in the Roman Empire, Tarifa (more specifically Baelo Claudia's Port settlement located in the bay of Bolonia) was an important place. It was where Rome caught its prized fish for Garum production, a fish concentrate added to all foods. From El Lentiscal to Zahara de los Atunes. Total: 12.3 km: Approximately 30 minutes. At the start of the route to Zahara de los Atunes, we find the natural Dunes of Bolonia, a complex of small dunes in a crescent shape and a large dune that stands over 20 metres high and 300 metres wide. Also here we find the archaeological site of the Baelo Claudia, as mentioned earlier. From Zahara de los Atunes to Barbate. Total: 13.1 km: Approximately 16 minutes. We leave Zahara, important for its fishing, especially its almadraba tuna. It is a beautiful town that has gained an important tourist level thanks to the state of its beaches and its renowned cuisine. We head for Barbate, another beautiful town of Cadiz situated in the La Breña y Marismas del Barbate Natural Park, which is also recognized for its salted fish, delighting any palate. From Barbate to Caños de Meca. Total: 9.5 km: Approximately 11 minutes. We leave Barbate and push forth into the La Breña y Marismas del Barbate Natural Park. Here we find an impressive natural space with many roads leading to its wonderful beaches, keeping this piece of nature alive in the province of Cadiz. Caños de Meca is an idyllic and unique spot, where the beaches and the cliffs of La Breña also give way to a single protected area, the Tómbolo of Trafalgar Natural Monument, located just 2 km. from Caños de Meca.
