Synopsis

1980. In a small village in the Guadalquivir marshes, forgotten and frozen in time, two teenagers disappeared during the festivities. Nobody missed them. All youngsters would like to go and live far away and some of them run away from home for this reason.

Rocío, the mother of the girls gets the district judge for the region of Andrade interested in them. From Madrid they sent two homicide detectives, Pedro and Juan, both with very different profiles and methods who, for different reasons, were not enjoying their best moment in the police force.

Locations and sequences

La Puebla del Río: The quay where Rodrigo, the boatman and father of girls lives. Sequences of Angelita's boat and generally scenes of the Guadalquivir River.

Isla Mayor: At this location: Practically all the sequences are in rice fields.

Veta la Palma: Estate in La Puebla del Río. Sequence of the discovery of the dead girls.

Vetaherrado: Leaving the Judge's house. Camping place for the night-time chase.

Poblado de Cotemsa: The main characters reach the town during the celebration of a Fair. It is an old settlement owned by a rice company, Herbas, in the district of Cabezas. It is a strange place because it is an example of a settlement in the Marshes which had been created for the workers lived and in recent years it had been slowly abandoned.

Playa de los Morenos on Isla Mayor: final chase sequence.

Brazo de los Jerónimos: here, among the reeds and rushes, one of the boats was taking the lead characters to the ‘Isla Mínima’ or ‘La Mínima’ as it was known in this area between the town and the river.

In the film they used this canal to reach an area which was inaccessible from the land which today is often used by a number of kayak clubs in the province for training and even for competitions.

A place to lose yourself, in the broadest sense of the word, with hundreds of paths among the rice fields without signposts, where it is easy to get lost which is the best thing that can happen to a traveller. The river is the great unknown in the province of Seville.

We highly recommend a boat trip to the quay of Isla Mayor where you can see the two banks of the river, Isla Mayor and Isla Menor.
