Almería by the TransAndalus
The TransAndalus is considered by the most experienced bikers who have done it "the best cycle touring route on the Peninsula". Along this route, the province of Almería is proud to show its charm and fascinating variety of landscapes of inestimable environmental value: the snow on its mountains, the best virgin beaches, luxuriant forests in the mountains, the hidden wealth in its heart and a desert that stars in many films.
The route going through the heterogeneous Almería starts at Láujar de Andarax, coming from the southern part of the TransAndalus by the province of Granada -from its Alpujarra-, to take us, after a hard crossing by the Sierra de Gádor, to the coast of Almería, the only capital visited by the route.
We continue along the coast enjoying the surroundings of Cabo de Gata Nature Reserve, the crystal-clear beaches, of San José, the mining landscape of Rodalquilar, and at Agua Amarga we bid our farewell to the blue hues of the Mediterranean Sea to enter the unique arid landscape of Almeria until Sorbas. From here, the route continues towards the Sierra de los Filabres and comes to an end in the land of the most famous ham in the province, Serón.
From Serón, the route goes back to the province of Granada to show us its legendary Baza in all its splendour.
