Almería
Although the town of Almería has only a few baroque buildings of interest (Convents of Santo Domingo and Santa Clara), as also have Laujar de Andarax, Adra and Paterna del Río, the route we will take goes through the small villages of the old marquessate of Vélez, owing to their singularity in Andalusian baroque: churches under the influence of Murcia, of notable proportions and rich façades, whose volume can be seen from afar.
We refer to the parish churches of Vélez Rubio, Huércal-Overa, Cuevas del Almanzora, Zurgena, Albox and Oria. At Tíjola, one may visit the Hermitage of Los Remedios and at La Sierra de las Estancias, the monastery of La Virgen del Saliente, built in the 18th century over a primitive hermitage.
