The origins of Easter Week in Ronda date back to the conquest of the city by the Catholic Monarchs when it was an unparalleled religious event and one of the most deep-rooted spiritual, cultural, artistic and popular traditions in the city.
The first information about this event dates back to 1538. Documentation shows that on 29 May 1538 the Regla de la Ilustre y Santa Hermandad de la Veracruz, Sangre y Llagas de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo brotherhood was approved by the Bishop of Malaga.
In 1574, the Real Hermandad del Santo Entierro de Cristo and Nuestra Señora de la Soledad brotherhoods came into existence.
History joins the artistic value of images, the extensive participation of residents, a stage with a unique, urban landscape and its fascinating streets, the result of which was being declared a Festival of National Interest in Andalusia.
