Ricardo Miño Álvarez was born in the Triana neighbourhood, in Seville, in 1949 He began to play guitar when he was twelve and worked with Pepe Marchena and El Pinto Soon he travelled to Japan and on his return in 1971 he won the Accompanying Guitar National Award in Cordoba He married the dancer Pepa Montes, from Las Cabezas, with whom he often plays, but he has also collaborated with artists such as Gualberto, Lole y Manuel, Paco Taranto and the Japanese pianist Ayako Sakamoto His son, Pedro Ricardo Miño, is one of the most important flamenco pianists today
