Rafael Riqueni del Canto was born on Calle Fabié, in Triana, Seville, like Naranjito, in 1962 However, he moved to the Arenal neighbourhood for many years He was taught by Isidoro Carmona and Manolo Sanlúcar and when he was just fourteen he won the Cordoba National Award and the Jerez Award
Thanks to these awards he was able to work with a variety of artists such as Rocío Jurado, Isabel Pantoja, María Jiménez, Martirio, Romero Sanjuán, Mario Maya, la Familia Montoya, Juan José Amador, La Susi,Juana la del Revuelo, Naranjito de Triana, Paco Taranto, Enrique Morente
However, his largest contribution as a guitarist has been as a soloist In 1990 he presented "Mi tiempo" at the Biennale He clearly enjoys Spanish music and has been inspired by composers such as Albéniz and Turina He made a guitar version of "Amargura" by Font de Anta and played it at the Biennale in 1994
In 1996 he published another splendid album - "Alcázar de Cristal" Today he is practically retired from the show business because of health problems, but everyone agrees that Riqueni is probably the best guitarist in his generation
