IE-023 Puerto Real - La Carrascosa
The IE-023 Puerto Real - La Carrascosa is the start of the Bahía de Cádiz natural park and, specifically from the town of Puerto Real, it runs along next to the Endorheic Complex of Puerto Real nature reserve —and its three lakes— and it ends at La Carrascosa. Soon the route will reach the Laguna de Medina.
Route
The Natural Park is left behind, moving east along the way to Camino Viejo de Paterna over a completely flat landscape, without any difficulty or change of direction.
In the middle of the journey and a few metres from the road is the Dehesa de Las Yeguas, made up by specimens of stone pine and wild olive trees. Not long afterwards, we reach the Endorheic Complex of Puerto Real nature reserve, made up of the lakes of San Antonio, Taraje and Comisario. This place is vital to the conservation of indigenous marsh birds (coots, ducks, little egrets, herons, birds of prey, etc.).
After travelling around the land bathed by Comisario Lake, the route leads to the north-east, leaving the Barrancos Altos Reservoir to the left. Nearby is the destination: La Partida de La Carrascosa.
Type of Trail: Linear (two-way). Status of the Trail: Approved and signposted. Total length: 14.4 km. Starting point: Puerto Real (Bay of Cádiz natural park). Finishing point: Partida de La Carrascosa.
