Church of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción in Puente Genil

The Church of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción, located in the old town of Puente Genil, Cordoba, is a temple of baroque origin built on the sit of the old hermitage of San Antón. The construction work on the sanctuary was carried out in the second half of the 18th century, ending in 1809 under the direction of Miguel del Castillo. The building stands out for its elegant baroque façade and a main altarpiece made of carved and polychrome plaster, imitating coloured marble, the work of Pedro de Mena Gutiérrez. In September 2024, the church was officially recognised as a sanctuary, cementing its religious importance in the community.
