Membrillo El Quijote, located in the province of Cordoba in the town of Puente Genil, was founded in 1840 when Rafael Rivas Pérez opened a confectioner's and specialised in making Quince Jelly. He already had over 26,000 sq.m. and employed sixty workers, with a total production of over 10,000 tons a year.

This jelly, an important element in the Mediterranean diet because of its great nutritional value, has made Membrillo El Quijote the most important company in Spain producing fruit creams and jams and has a notable presence in international markets, exporting more than 10% of its production to countries like the USA, Canada, Venezuela, United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, France, Portugal, Morocco, South Africa, Italy, Czech Republic, Hungary, China and Israel.
