In late August and early September, the streets are decorated with the Royal Fair, which dates back to 1842, when it was a centre for buying and selling livestock.
In times past jugglers, peddlers, minstrels, circuses and other attractions were in attendance, now all disappeared. Since 1993, the Fair has been held in the "Niceto Alcalá-Zamora" City Park.
It sees a large influx of visitors each year from the region and beyond, growing to become southern Cordoba's major fair. Many booths and rides that will delight kids and adults alike can be found at the fair, as is the tradition.
Large numbers of street vendors attend to offer their products to the public on the pavements of the fairgrounds. Important bullfighting events are held in the centenary bullring.
