Iglesia de las Mercedes

The church of Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes was built on the site of the shrine of San Antonio Abad, and has been declared a National Monument. It has a floorplan in the shape of a Latin cross, a groin vault and a scalloped dome.

Highlights on the exterior include the marble doorway and the two twin towers. On the interior, which is decorated in the Rococo style, the main altarpiece is of particular note, as is the side chapel containing the image of Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes.
